Wobbling before gobbling on Thanksgiving Day

More than 50 club and community members showed up to walk or run at the Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot. The club sponsors the annual event early Thanksgiving morning to help participants “wobble before gobble.”

“We had a great turnout and it was fun to see so many Canyon Lake families and friends walking and running in their Turkey Trot T-shirts and costumes,” Karin Cassidy of the club said. “Participants generously donated food for the Salvation Army food pantry.”

Members of the Canyon Lake Walkers and Runners joined the Triathlon Club and members of the community along with donating water for the run.

“The Triathlon and Fitness Club would like to thank the volunteers who helped with the sign in, shirt sales and supporting the runners and walkers on the course,” Karin said. “We look forward to hosting this event for many years to come.”

In the competitive portion of the event, a 5K was run with the winners taking home a pumpkin pie. The first place female 5K winner was Stefanie Cullingford and the male winner was David Menendez.
