CL students’ schools highest ranked in district

The elementary, middle and high schools where Canyon Lake students attend have received the highest marks of the schools in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District by Niche, a national market leader in rating America’s schools.

Temescal Canyon High School, where Canyon Lake’s high school students are typically assigned, received the grade of B+ from Niche. No other high school in the district received as high a score.

Canyon Lake Middle School received a B grade. The next highest grade for a middle school was a B-.

The two elementary schools where Canyon Lake children attend received the highest grades as well. Tuscany Hills Elementary was the highest ranked with a B+ and Cottonwood Hills Elementary was tied with two other district schools with a B grade.

The district received an overall score of B-, but finished with an A- for diversity and an A- for college prep. It was also highly rated for sports, which received a B+ grade. Compared to other high schools in California, LEUSD was ranked #102 out of 441 for Athletics, #225 out of 704 for the Most Diverse School and #405 out of 649 for Best Places to Teach.

The district has 20,427 students in grades K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 22 to 1. According to state test scores, 29% of students are at least proficient in math and 41% in reading.
