Farmers Market fills Town Center every Sunday

Dozens of vendors specializing in farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, food and other unique items line up inside the back parking lot of the Canyon Lake Town Center each Sunday to sell their wares to eager Canyon Lake shoppers.

The array of produce makes for an extremely colorful and fun atmosphere at the weekly Canyon Lake Farmers Market held from 9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. In addition to booth after booth of fruits, vegetables and other foodstuffs, some vendors provide a whole variety of unique items for their buyers.

The Canyon Lake Farmers Market has been around for 15 years and there still is a sense that just a pocket of Canyon Lakers are aware of its existence. Tucked away along the backside of the Town Center, the weekly market quietly goes about its business.

But those who do take the weekly trek back there make it more than worth the while of the vendors who keep coming back week after week. Brian Grifffith, who has owned the Canyon Lake Farmers Market for the last seven years, is eager to add to what he and Market Manager Pam Earle have built.

“We would love to add more vendors to the Canyon Lake Farmers Market,” Brian said. “We love Canyon Lake and we love having Canyon Lakers participate in the Farmers Market.”

Pam has been running the Canyon Lake Farmers Market from its inception and has a total of 25 years of experience running a farmers market.

“There’s a lot that goes into running a market,” she said. “There’s regulations and protocols we must adhere to. We have to know what items are being sold, especially if they are a food product. We have to ensure those food products are meeting state health standards to make sure the public is kept safe.”
