Triathlon Club inviting City to annual Turkey Trot

The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club is hosting its Annual Turkey Trot 5K Run/1K Walk at Gault Field on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24 and is inviting the community to the free event.

The Turkey Trot will be held rain or shine. Check in begins at 8:00 a.m. and the race starts at 9:00 a.m. This is a free event and all members of the community are invited to attend with their families.

A limited amount of Turkey Trot performance T-shirts are available for $15 each. The family package is available where three shirts can be purchased for the price of two. Shirts are available for purchase on the day of the race and cash, check or Venmo will be accepted.

The route starts at Gault Field, crosses on Longhorn onto Hoofbeat Way, turns right onto Big Range, left onto Longhorn to Strawberry Lane and back to Gault Field. The distance of the race is 3.1 miles.

Following the 5K, there will be a 1K Kids Run that will circle the baseball field.

Pumpkin pies will be awarded to the first place male and female adults and treat bags for the male and female winner of the 1K Kids Run.

At the event, the Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club is accepting donations of canned or non-perishable food to donate to a local food pantry.

Thanksgiving-themed costumes are encouraged to be worn by participating runners.

“The Triathlon Club encourages all in the community to come out and ‘move your feet before you eat, wobble before you gobble’,” the club’s Karen Cassidy said. “This is a great warm-up to your Thanksgiving.”

The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club invites everyone to join them. The club hosts a variety of fitness events throughout the year, including the Tour de Canyon Lake, The Paddle & Pedal Regatta, along with monthly triathlons, bike rides, swim meetups and other activities.
