Public invited to ‘Many Wonders of Christmas’

The Canyon Lake Community Church is inviting the public to its 10th Annual Many Wonders of Christmas Luncheon which will take place on Nov. 19.

The luncheon, which started 10 years ago as a kickoff to the Christmas season, is an outreach for women’s ministries and will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Building C at the church.  A catered lunch will be served at noon. Tickets are $25.00 and may be purchased by calling Lynda Ofstad at 951-244-7866.

As guests arrive, they have the option of purchasing opportunity tickets for 30 lighted three-foot Christmas trees. The trees are decorated by local artists, businesses, and volunteers. Some of the trees have gift certificates to beauty salons, restaurants, and local shops.

“Guests are invited to enjoy the fellowship at Canyon Lake Community Church,” Lynda said. “The committee works through the year to attend to every detail, from the menu, to the favors, the centerpieces, the decorations, the speakers, music, and the Christmas trees. I have had the help of a dozen women who are experienced in Many Wonders from years past. All proceeds go towards Women’s Activities.”

The entertainment this year will be The Gospel Truth presenting Christmas music. Kylene Evans will play Christmas selections on the harp.

Every table will be decorated with a poinsettia and one lucky table guest will win it. The large poinsettias on the stage will also be given away as door prizes. Each guest will also take home a table favor. A Christmas quilt made by women of the church will also be raffled off.

The catered lunch will include salad, rice, Chicken Marsala, vegetable medley, bread and butter, and assorted desserts.

Diane Cline is coordinating the menu. Cort Ofstad leads a group of husbands of committee members who serve the lunch.
