City to Honor its Vets

The City of Canyon Lake will be hosting a Veterans Day celebration at Holiday Harbor Park today beginning at 3:00 p.m. The event is to honor the local and national veterans with a fitting and appropriate celebration. A Warbirds flyover is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

At Holiday Harbor Park will be a live DJ, pie eating contests for both adults and kids, food vendors and raffles for the veterans.

The City of Canyon Lake will have a booth with patriotic giveaways.

The Canyon Lake Fire Department will be on hand selling T-shirts and koozies to help support their endeavors within the Canyon Lake community.

New City Council Member Mark Terry will  give a speech on the importance of Veterans Day.

The city said the event is to commemorate those veterans who lost their lives serving the country and for the community to have an opportunity to come together in support of the nation’s veterans on Veterans Day.

Flags honoring various Canyon Lake veterans have been placed in the Canyon Lake Veterans Memorial Park in the Canyon Lake Town Center. About 200 flags have been purchased by residents in a show of honor for a veteran in their life. Each flag has a ribbon with the name of the honoree.

Donors can pick up their flags after the Veteran’s Day event at the Field of Honor anytime on Nov. 12, or anytime thereafter at Pack, Wrap and Post.
