Lots of suds/fun at Rocktoberfest

The Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club held its annual Rocktoberfest last Saturday at Holiday Harbor despite the on again off again rain showers that occurred throughout the event. More than 800 Canyon Lakers and their guests poured into the park to support the club’s biggest event of the year that provides finances for its philanthropic endeavors.

This year’s proceeds will go to help with the scholarships and philanthropy supporting the community of Canyon Lake.

Wilson Creek Champagne, eight breweries as well as Micheladas and some other fun tasters provided the drinking highlights of Rocktoberfest. Black Rock Candy and Steel Canyon provided the rock.

The young ones enjoyed playing at the playground while parents enjoyed their tastings and just hanging out with friends and family with the live bands playing in the background.

The weiner dogs put on a show for onlookers who rooted for their favorite wiener to win. This year’s winners were Kiwi Magee, owned by Maleah Magee, and Piper, owned by Kristy Wampole and Wayne Lambert.

The non-weiner winner was Brusky, who belongs to Bobby Garretson.

“A special thanks goes out to Co-Chairs of the Rocktoberfest, Amanda Yates and Jenniver Lawrence,” Jonda Morton, Junior Women’s Club president, said. “They put in months of hard work and planning to make the event what it was.”

Members of the Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club worked the various booths dressed in their Rocktoberfest gear, interacting with patrons and having a good time. Hours before and after the event, setting up and taking down were just some of the things the club did to ensure the success of Rocktoberfest.

“We want to say a special thank you to our community for coming out and supporting the event despite the stormy weather,” Jonda said.

“We were able to have our most fun and successful Rocktoberfest yet because the community was willing to brave the rain. We can’t wait to do it again next year.”
