Canyon Lake Ski Club takes to the water

The Canyon Lake Ski Club held its Memorial Tournament over the weekend in a two-day event at the North Ski Lake and Jump Lagoon.

Twenty-six slalom skiers took to the water along with 11 jump skiers and 14 trick skiers.

Tournament Director Thad Epting said the weekend tournament was a big success not only because of the number of participants, but because of the caliber and results of the skiers.

“We had some great skiing this weekend with 6-10 athletes scoring personal best performances in slalom, trick and jump events,” he said. “The weather was fantastic and Saturday afternoon gave us some gentle headwinds which are perfect for a big jumping distance.”

He also said that some of the skiers competed for the first time after having to sit out a few seasons because of injuries and surgeries. They performed well and had some great results, he said.
