Alabama Tribute Concert set for next weekend

Canyon Lake country music fans are getting their wish. The Alabama tribute band Tennessee River will take the stage in the Canyon Lake Lodge’s Holiday Bay Room on May 14 at 7:00 p.m.

The sponsoring Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild is looking for fans to grab their hats, put on their boots and two-step right on down to the concert.

Tickets are on sale now for all Guild concerts, including the Tennesee River concert next weekend. General Admission tickets are on sale at the Canyon Lake POA office and at www.brownpapertickets.com. VIP Reserved seats are exclusively on sale at www.brownpapertickets.com.

In addition to the concerts whose tickets are on sale, the Guild puts on a free concert at the Holiday Harbor Amphitheater in September.

“Without the support of the community, we would not be able to give our community a free concert on the lake,” Guild president Bonnie Dubbs said. “We appreciate and thank everyone who comes to the concerts and supports the Guild.”

This year’s free concert is an all-female band, RagDolls, which is an Aerosmith tribute band. The concert will be held at the amphitheater on Sept. 24. This will be an all-day event for family and friends on land and on water, Bonnie said. More details will come as the concert approaches.

Tennessee River Country Band is an already-established cross over vocal ensemble project. Its members wanted to showcase their own vocal prowess by paying homage to the band they felt transformed country music with its stellar vocal blend.

Prior to forming as Tennessee River, these seven gifted concert musicians had performed internationally in various country and rock projects. They have frequently been compared to such legendary bands as the Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Diamond Rio and, of course, Alabama.

Tennessee River is known as a band with the vocal chops to do Alabama’s music justice with its new hybrid of contemporary cross over music. It brings a fusion of the rural and urban sounds of modern-day country and blues, with the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll.

Tennessee River stays true to the essence of Alabama‘s music, taking Alabama’s chart-topping songs and adding its own fresh, modern and unique energy. It successfully brings Alabama’s music alive again.

Songs such as Mountain Music, Song of the South, The Closer You Get and other well-known Alabama hits will be on Tennessee River’s list of songs at the concert.

Other upcoming Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild concerts are 4NR (Foreigner tribute) on July 16, the free RagDolls Amphitheater concert and StoneSoul (Motown tribute) on Nov. 5.
