David Nail plays to sold out Lodge concert

A sold-out audience of 320 jammed into the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge Saturday to listen to country music artist David Nail perform his hits.

When it came time for David to take the stage, Doug Schultz, producer of the Canyon Lake POA’s Concerts at the Lodge series, led the crowd in his enthusiastic welcome.

“In keeping with our Canyon Lake tradition,” he said, “please stand up and join me in giving a super loud Canyon Lake welcome to Mr. David Nail.”

Before David launched into his Valentine’s Day weekend concert, though, opening act Leslie Lowe took the stage.

Leslie, who is from San Clemente, performed a solo acoustic guitar set of original music for 30 minutes. Canyon Lakers loved her songs and angelic voice, Doug said.

David then performed as a four-piece band. He started at 8:45 p.m. and did a 90-minute set, including an encore of his megahit song, “Whatever She’s Got.”

Sets by David included other hit singles, “Let it Rain,” and “Red Light.” He has recorded four studio albums and 13 music videos, including 12 hit singles. He was twice nominated for an Academy of Country Music Award and a Grammy.

“The Canyon Lake audience went nuts over David Nail, screaming they loved him and singing along to his songs,” Doug said.

“The Canyon Lake concert experience is awesome,” Doug said. “Drive just a few minutes by golf cart or car to the venue, have dinner and drinks before the show if you want, then witness an actual national recording artist perform live, in concert right here in Canyon Lake. Concerts at the Lodge…there’s nothing else like it.”

Upcoming Concerts at the Lodge include Jim Messina, half of the super star pop rock duo Loggins and Messina, on April 16; Don Dokken, the iconic lead vocalist of the hard rock band Dokken, on June 18, and The Blasters, an alternative rockabilly band, on Aug. 27.

Tickets are on sale at member services, the Canyon Lake POA website and the POA Facebook page.
