New fire dept. personnel receive welcome baskets

City of Canyon Lake Councilmember Kasey Castillo and Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club President Jonda Morton made a trip to the new Canyon Lake Fire Station with welcome baskets in hand to distribute to the 12 staff members there.

The two local leaders, with the support of their husbands Greg Castillo and Bradley Morton, assembled the well-received welcome baskets that were filled with a variety of gifts.

With the help of notable sponsors such as Steve and Erin Wilcox, owners of Mr. Stix Moving, these baskets were made possible.

“There was an amazing outpouring of surprise and appreciation by the 12 new Canyon Lake Firemen who had only been on duty a total of four days,” Bradley said.

Jonda Morton and Kasey Castillo gather with some of the Canyon Lake Fire Department crew after delivering welcome baskets to all 12 members there.

“It has been so much fun assembling these baskets and welcoming the new fire department crew,” Jonda said. “Kasey did such an amazing job organizing this sweet gesture. This kind of thoughtfulness truly is what sets our community apart from others. I can’t wait to feature Canyon Lake’s very own firemen in our upcoming inaugural issue of Canyon Lake Life Magazine.”

“Completing these welcome baskets was a lot of fun,” Kasey said. “It was an informal idea that grew legs and took off from there. Thank you so much to the business owners who provided items for the baskets.”

The baskets included gift cards to several local restaurants, lottery tickets, various drinks, a huge array of snacks, two pairs of BluKru shop “Iconic” boxer briefs, a beanie hat, some baseball hats, homemade name tags, bags of Hero coffee and the primary gift of a high-quality customized athletic jacket.”
