CL’s Darcy Burke named EVMWD president

Darcy M. Burke, who has been a resident of Canyon Lake for more than 20 years, was elected president of the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) Board of Directors last week after a 5-0 vote by the board at its regular meeting.

Darcy represents EVMWD’s Division 1, which includes Canyon Lake, Tuscany Hills, Canyon Hills, and other areas of Lake Elsinore. Darcy was initially elected to the board in 2018 and has served in the past as board treasurer and vice president.

“I am honored to serve our local community as EVMWD board president,” Darcy said. “I will continue to work with the board, staff and stakeholders to ensure our customers have a safe, reliable water supply – both now and in the years to come.”

The new president has extensive experience in the water industry and has focused her professional efforts on strategic planning, operation efficiencies, communications, and legislative regulatory affairs.

She serves on EVMWD’s Water Planning Committee and as district representative for multiple organizations, including the Western Municipal Water District Joint Committee, Eastern Municipal Water District Joint Committee, Meeks and Daley Water Co., Canyon Lake City Council, Canyon Lake POA, Canyon Lake Roundtable, and Urban Water Institute.

Other board officer positions announced at the meeting include Andy Morris, Division 5, as vice president, and Chance Edmondson, Division 3, as treasurer. Rounding out the board of directors are Phil Williams, representing Division 4, and Harvey Ryan, representing Division 2.

Board officers serve a one-year term. The EVMWD Board of Directors regularly meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. Meetings are open to the general public and are currently accessible both in-person and online.
