Canyon Laker wins car on Let’s Make a Deal

The Sept. 28 taping of Canyon Lake resident Margaret Staley winning a Mazda CX-5 on Let’s Make a Deal aired this week, finally allowing Margaret to tell the world about it.

Not only are the odds not good that a participant gets chosen to be a contestant on the show, but winning the day’s top prize is even more of a long shot.

Margaret was picked and kept making all the right choices, including picking Door No. 1 at the end of the show. She leapt for joy as host Wayne Brady had her Door No. 1 open to the new car.

Margaret headed to Van Nuys for the filming of the show on Sept. 28.  She said the contestants spent much of the morning meeting each other, dancing around and enjoying the experience of being at Let’s Make a Deal.

Dressed as a hippie, Margaret said she was one of the lucky ones chosen. All the contestants had to sign non-disclosures prohibiting them from discussing the show’s content and winners until after it aired on CBS on Tuesday morning.

Canyon Lake’s Margaret Staley leaps for joy when Let’s Make a Deal host Wayne Brady has Margaret’s Door No. 1 opened revealing a new Mazda CX-5. After running onstage moments later, she expresses joy before hopping into her new $28,000 car. Earlier she also won a nearly $5,800 vacation to Canada. Photos screen captures of let’s make a deal.

Margaret said she chose Door No. 1 because she has one daughter, one granddaughter and had one job. Choosing the door was obviously a great decision. The other two doors had nice prizes, but were worth substantially less than the car.

Earlier in the show, Margaret won a trip to Vancouver, Canada worth $5792.00. Then she was picked for the grand finale and won the Mazda CX-5 valued at $28,680.00.

Margaret is newly retired as of Aug. 1 from the United States Postal Service after 27 years of service.

“I’m only 44 years old and thought going to see Let’s Make a Deal would be a great way to celebrate and just have fun,” Margaret said. “It was so much fun and the entire day was so upbeat and a great way to start out being retired.”
