More than 300 shoppers jammed into the Canyon Lake Lodge over the weekend to shop at 62 vendors’ booths at the Canyon Lake Junior Women’s Club;s Annual Holiday Boutique.

The lawns in front of the Lodge were filled with vendors and customers and the inside of the Lodge, where more vendors set up booths, was overflowing with shoppers as they made their way down the myriad aisles.

The club’s Christy Williams said there were over 300 shoppers who roamed the boutique and enjoyed time with their friends and family. Many shoppers made this a mother-daughter day. One family at the boutique brought three generations of mothers, daughters, aunts and nieces. The event has turned into a popular Christmas tradition.

The Junior Women’s Club raised over $3,000 at the boutique for scholarships and for their sponsorship of families for the holidays.

The club annually sponsors a family’s Christmas. This year, because of the success of its fundraisers, it is able to sponsor individual foster children as well.

Junior Women’s Club President Jonda Morton said the club is grateful to Christy Williams and Julie Aguirre who were the main planners of this year’s boutique.

“Look for a big change next year when the club will change the event name to Sip and Shop,” Jonda said. “This is due to the many similar boutiques in Canyon Lake during the holidays.”

The name Sip and Shop, to be held next year on Nov. 19, will help set the Junior Women’s Club’s boutique apart from the others and eliminate some confusion, Jonda said.
