Women’s Golf Club’s tourney raises funds for Trees for Troops

More than $1,600 buys a lot of Christmas Trees. The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club held its annual Turkey Shoot Golf Tournament Saturday and, in addition to holding a great event, raised significant funds to contribute to “Trees for Troops.”

The 68 golfers who participated in the fundraising golf tournament and others contributed to Trees for Troops, a national non-profit organization that gives free Christmas Trees to individuals in the military.

“We all enjoyed a fun day of golf,” Sue Sell, a member of the tournament committee, said. “Afterward, we all enjoyed a great lunch at our Country Club. Our country club manager, Paul, provided a yummy open-faced turkey luncheon with mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.”

Sue said the committee, which in addition to herself, consisted of Darlene Cortez, Victoria Wood, Linda Hudson and Kathy Voss, wanted to thank the golfers for participating and Head Pro Pat Kemball and his staff for all their hard work.
