LA Guns nearly sells out Lodge concert

Some 284 wild fans showed up for the final 2021 Concerts at the Lodge concert Saturday evening to hear the legendary glam metal band LA Guns.

This was only the second show the band performed in the last 22 months because of the pandemic and the show at the Lodge had to be postponed three times due to COVID-19 restrictions.

LA Guns music was enhanced by the how dialed in the new Lodge sound system was. Lodge Producer Doug Schultz said LA Guns has one of the an elite production manager, Pilgrim, who is a perfectionist.

Pilgrim makes sure everything is spot on for not only the band, but the audience as well. It took Pilgrim more than four hours to do the sound check and his perfectionism was apparent in how well the sound was during the show. LA Guns’ merchandise flew off the shelves after the concert. Dougs said the band sold more merchandise at the Canyon Lake concert, than any other previous LA Guns event.

“A band like LA Guns brought out an entirely different type of audience to the Lodge,” Doug said. “Our concert goers were excited about the glam metal genre band coming to Canyon Lake.”

Doug said he was able to enjoy time before the concert with lead guitarist Traci Guns and lead vocalist Phil Lewis as they reminisced about a concert back in 1998 when Doug was manager of the venue where the band played.

“The entire band was sick that night with the flu,” Doug said, “but the show went on with success.”

Jim Herron, one of those from Canyon Lake at Saturday’s concert, said he was excited to hear the show. He collects comic books and has one about the legendary band, Guns and Roses, and in it, it talks about how Guns and Roses and LA Guns came together.
