Halloween Carnival, Trunk or Treat tomorrow

Everyone is invited to come out tomorrow afternoon with their families to enjoy an afternoon and evening of fun at Holiday Harbor from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Family Matters Club 8th annual Halloween Carnival and Trunk or Treat.

The kids can enjoy some Trunk or Treating in one area of the parking lot. Carts and cars will be decorated and prizes to be had for the best Trunk or Treat vehicle and the best Trunk or Treat tent/walkthrough.

To participate in the contest, entry forms will need to be submitted ahead of time. Entry forms with more details can be found at the Family Matters Club website.

Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in their most spooktacular costume and the kiddos will need their bags or plastic pumpkins for some fun Trunk or Treating.

This will be an entire afternoon and evening filled with fun. Wristbands are $5.00 each per child for game booths and crafts. Vendor shopping is planned as part of the carnival and a fun Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus, will be shown to wrap the evening up.

The schedule of events will look something like this. At 3:30 p.m. there will be Old Fashioned apple bobbing where participants can expect to get wet, followed at 4:00 p.m. with a pretzel eating contest.

At 5:00 p.m. there will be a costume contest and parade. The Trunk or Treat winner will be announced at about 5:45 p.m. and the best decorated vendor booth will be announced shortly after at 6:00 p.m.

The movie will begin at 6:15 p.m. to wrap up a busy carnival and Trunk or Treat afternoon of fun.

Sponsors are still welcome to donate and their support is very much appreciated.

Volunteers are still needed and very much appreciated. This is a great opportunity for teens to earn some of their required community service hours.

For more information on how to volunteer, enter, or sponsor, please contact the club at info@familymattersclub.org or 714-394-4885.

Decorating trunks can be quite elaborate as evidenced by this Trunk or Treat trunk from the last Family Matters Halloween Carnival two years ago. The community is invited to participate by decorating car trunks and distributing candy as well as by kids trick or treating there. Friday Flyer File Photos

One of the events at the Family Matters Annual Halloween Carnival is a pretzel eating contest. Sounds easier than it is as demonstrated by this tiger-costumed participant at the carnival two years ago when the last event was held.
