CL veterans, first responders hold 9/11 BBQ

Dozens of Canyon Lake Veterans and First Responders Club members showed up for the club’s monthly meeting and a BBQ at Tim Cook’s home on Saturday.

“I love the patriotism of my fellow Canyon Lakers and my heart is certainly with the Veterans and First Responders,” Tim said. “Anything I can give back to them, makes my day.”

Tim said he saw many postings of the BBQ on social media and it brought him joy seeing how much those in the community enjoyed the evening.

Rocco Lanzisera said the event was very well executed and so much appreciated. He was thrilled to be at the BBQ and was enjoying his time there seeing how the community came together.

Canyon Lake resident Vince Steeber operated the BBQ. He said he was grateful to support the evening.

“As a retired competition pit master, I love being able to come and cook for events, especially those in Canyon Lake,” Vince said. “I was very happy with the turnout Saturday evening and was happy to be able to support Veterans and First Responders.”

Deborah Keyes said the event was amazing.

“It was a great way for people to come together and Canyon Lake desperately needed this event,” she said. “Seeing everyone here is a true sign of unity.”

A raffle was held during the BBQ and, in just under two hours, $1,850.00 was netted for the Canyon Lake Veterans and First Responders Club. The money will go to helping those in need within Canyon Lake as well as helping with future events like the one on Saturday evening.
