Canyon Lake tattoo artist opens new shop

How about a breakfast taco to go with that new tattoo? Canyon Lake’s Larry Hoggard has opened a new shop just outside of the North Gate on Highway 74 that provides the typical tattoos, piercings and jewelry, but also provides its customers with his signature breakfast tacos.

Larry is passionate about his new Lucky Larry’s Lake Tattoo shop that opened Saturday.

“I am a Canyon Lake tattoo artist and I want this shop to represent that,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to own my own tattoo shop.”

Larry has been tattooing for about a year and will be completing body art college in 10 weeks. School is important to him, he said, because he tends to overdo things and wants to be an expert in his field. The schooling helps make that possible.

With Larry’s limited tattoo experience, he has staffed the new business with three quality artists, all with between two and 20 years experience. A shop manager also is part of the staff.

The front of the shop is home to Larry’s famous breakfast tacos, candy and goodies and an assortment of cold drinks. This front portion of the shop will eventually carry a complete assortment of tobacco products and supplies, along with jewelry, and some apparel.

The back of the shop is designated for tattoos and piercings. Larry said he hopes the opportunity will present itself to where he can move into the Canyon Lake Town Center to be more easily accessible to Canyon Lake residents.

Larry said he is thankful for the opportunity to serve his fellow Canyon Lake residents and he is thankful for the support he has received from so many within the community.

Despite his enthusiasm for his new business, Larry emphasizes that his two boys, Hollywood and Vegas, are his top priority.

Lucky Larry’s Lake Tattoo is open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Walk-ins are welcome, he said, but appointments are preferred.
