Canyon Lake couple celebrate 75th anniversary

Canyon Lake couple Bill and Louise Stevenson celebrated their 75th anniversary on Wednesday. The two have lived in Canyon Lake since 1994 after they both retired.

Bill and Louise were married on July 28, 1946 in Louise’s dad’s beer bar that her mother decorated for the wedding.

Bill worked in plastering for 17 years, and in a couple other occupations before starting a career at Cal Poly University in the athletic department on the Pomona campus. After 20 years at Cal Poly, he retired in 1993.

Louise was a homemaker until their three children, Dan, Grace, and Barney, graduated from high school. She then went to work for the French Luggage Co. for 20 years. She retired in 1992.

In 1994 they moved to Canyon Lake from San Dimas. Through the years in Canyon Lake, they have made many friends. Bill played a lot of golf and Louise has enjoyed different hobbies, daughter Grace Glass said.

Their family has grown over the years from the three children to eight grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

“The family is very proud of our parents in all they have accomplished,” Grace said. “They have set a wonderful example of what marriage can be with the love they show each other each and every day.”
