Helping Hands holding food drive

The Helping Hands Group will hold a food collection station next to its Park Hopper booth on Saturday by the Lodge starting at 11:00 a.m. There will also be another food collection station by its booth on Sunday at Sierra Park, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Helping Hands Group is a non-profit organization providing physical needs and emotional support for the elderly and disabled in Canyon Lake and the surrounding communities.

The group is asking for people to bring non-perishable canned food or box food and drop them off in the collection bins.

“We’re excited to hold this food collection,” Helping Hands Executive Director Lawrence Evans said. “We also want to get the word out about what we’re doing. This food collection will greatly help the elderly and the disabled. This will also be an opportunity for the community to give back.”

The Helping Hands Group is also in need of volunteers and will answer questions and take sign ups at its booth. Those who would like to volunteer can show up at the booth and sign up as a volunteer there or on its website. There will also be a card-making station at the booth to give to the low-income seniors who will receive the food.
