Flamingos are back and ready for flocking

The Canyon Lake Family Matters Club has brought back its popular Flamingo Flocking Fundraiser. The unique fundraiser began last year after COVID-19 forced the club to brainstorm new ways to fundraise for its philanthropic efforts.

To participate in the fundraiser, community members pay to have “flocks” of plastic lawn flamingos delivered to take up temporary residence at one of their unexpecting-neighbor’s yards.

The flamingos are available for taking up a friend’s yard beginning April 24. The pink birds take off for the season on May 14. Residents are encouraged to reserve their flocks on the club’s website. Each flock will be accompanied by a “Just Been Flocked” sign in the yard and a letter explaining its arrival.

The flock will migrate to another yard in 48 hours unless the recipient calls the club’s Trained Flamingo Technician for rehoming.

There are three options to choose from when ordering the flamingo flock. The three, all of which include a yard sign and letter, are a Migration (flock of 12) for $20, a Stop Over (flock of 24 for $35 and a Flamboyance (flock of 50) for $50.

The fundraiser will allow the nonprofit to raise funds to help cover its existing expenses.

The money earned from the fundraiser will also pay for no-contact activities that are open to the community, storage fees and helping those in need within the community.

More information on the flocks can be found at familymattersclub.org.
