Letter: Thank you CLPOA

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

What went on in the North Ski Area on Saturday was a perfect example of why the CLPOA made the right decision by Not Allowing Wake Surfing in the North Ski Area.

What I saw was exactly what the board members had envisioned. I saw several kids playing in kayaks, splashing each other and having fun. Someone was playing with their remote-controlled boat, people wake boarding, and fisherman fishing from their float tubes – all in the safety of the North Ski Area without fear of being run over or getting swamped by the enormous boat wakes from the wake surf boats.  All the while, they were wake surfing in the back area without any problem at all.

We all know that if this issue of wake surfing were to be allowed on the main lake, it would have been “Dead on Arrival” because those living on the main lake would not tolerate the constant damage to their docks and boats due to the massive wakes.

The same argument applies to the North Ski Area and the excessive damage those large wakes do to the slalom course, docks and towers. Thank you CLPOA for making the right decision for all of Canyon Lake and protecting our amenities for years to come.
