CL hard rocker releases ‘perfect Valentine song’

“Honey, You Look Good Tonight” is the perfect Valentine’s Day song…and not just because of its lyrics. Canyon Laker Mark Peace Thomas is a hard rock artist who is releasing the song on Valentine’s Day. It’s a love song and with it being produced and arranged by Damian Valentine, it just had to be released on Valentine’s Day.

Mark, who relocated to Canyon Lake in 2009, describes “Honey, You Look Good Tonight”  as the perfect rock and roll song about love.

“It’s really about the pleasant aspects of love,” he said. “I poke fun about how when I compliment my wife, she takes it as a backhanded comment. But it’s not. I’m simply commenting on how beautiful she looks.”

Mark’s friend also inspired him to create this song as well.

“My buddy was once talking about how his wife got mad at him when he was just innocently complimenting her,” Mark said. “It’s a shared experience amongst us guys!”

Mark claims that “Honey, You Look Good Tonight” is not your average love song.

“It’s full of rock! It’s not your typical Celine Dion love ballad. It’s a goodbye-to-boring love songs,” Mark said. “It goes against the standard ‘syrupy’ love ballad by giving you loud guitars and fun lyrics that reflect how tricky life can be living with another human being. It offers up a happy ending. This song is a positive emotion that appeals to married and unmarried couples.”

Allie Farris is a folk singer from Nashville who teamed up with Mark to sing the song. “Honey, You Look Good Tonight” will be released on Valentine’s Day on all streaming platforms.

With this single locked up and ready to be released, Mark is now wrapping up an album that is scheduled for streaming services in June.

“During mid-March, COVID-19 completely changed my DJ career of 30 years,” he said. “The whole last year has just been full of uncertainty. But, I decided to turn this year around for myself and have some fun as a self-employed artist by creating an album, Rockstar Delusion.”

In terms of the future, Mark is hopeful.

“Most of what I’m doing is for fun,” he said. “I would love to do a small tour locally. It would be awesome to get a band together. I don’t really expect much as the music industry is tough. It would be a dream to do a small tour around clubs.”

Mark’s rock album, Rockstar Delusion, will be released in June. Singles from the album will be released almost every month.

“Every song from this album deals with complex aspects in life,” Mark said. He was also able to work with one of his idols on the album, Bruce Kulick, a guitarist from KISS.

Rockstar Delusion will be released on Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music and all major streaming platforms.

Mark’s life has always revolved around music.

“I spent much of my adolescent years visiting and spending time at record stores,” he said. “I would talk to local musicians and listen to them play complex guitar solos and I was just so inspired. As an adult now, I realize that being a musician is all about having heart and soul.”

Mark admires many hard rock moguls such as KISS, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath and many more iconic bands that shaped him.

At the age of 16, Mark took on the career of becoming a DJ for weddings.

“I grew up loving country music,” he said. “But taking on the career of a DJ opened my eyes to different genres that I fell in love with.”

Mark began making music in 2013 and experimented with R&B, rap and reggae.

“My album was the type of album that would make you dance! I’m doing what I love,” Mark said. “I worked with all kinds of singers and artists. I have been so grateful. It has been so awesome to do all that I wanted to do.”
