Rady Children’s Auxiliary seeking to create unit with Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake is among the area communities Rady Children’s Hospital is requesting to create a new auxiliary unit to support the facility in Murrieta. The hospital is holding an informational Zoom session to recruit people to the auxiliary on Feb. 3 at 4:30 p.m.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn what the auxiliary is, what the members do and what it takes to create a new unit in the areas of Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore or Menifee.

Auxiliary units support the hospital in multiple ways year-round by raising funds, decorating the campus, providing necessary snacks and toiletry items for patient families and much more.

The group is expanding into the area surrounding the Rady Children’s Plaza in Murrieta. Local auxiliary community members will have a way to support the hospital’s work through the local facility.

“We are looking for new members in the Southern Riverside County area, including Canyon Lake,” Rowena Treitler, a Membership Requirement Chair, said. “We’d love for Canyon Lakers to join our passionate group.”

Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary works in partnership with Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego to support its mission by advocating for children’s health and well-being, increasing community awareness of Rady Children’s Hospital and fundraising.

There are more than 1,100 volunteer members spread across 20 different units, Rowena said. Together the units collaborate to ensure that patients and their families experience the highest level of care in a healing environment.

“The children from Canyon Lake members who join this new unit will also have access to Rady’s Children facilities in that area,” Rowena said.

Since the auxiliary’s inception in 1953, the organization has raised more than $80 million.

Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego is a nonprofit, 505-bed pediatric-care facility dedicated to excellence in care, research and teaching.

Rady Children’s is the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare and the region’s only designated pediatric trauma center.
