In Memoriam: Ora Peterson

Ora Peterson with great-granddaughter Ora

Ora Peterson had a heart attack on Dec. 24, 2020 and on Jan. 15 she met our Heavenly Father in Heaven. She was born May 8, 1934 in Grace City, North Dakota and lived in Canyon Lake for 33 years. She had a full and wonderful life and touched so many with her cheerfulness, strength, charity and silliness.

Ora was a “stay at home busy mom.”  She did volunteer work in Orange County and also helped her husband Cy at his drugstore businesses.

Cy and Ora traveled extensively to all 50 states and to 14 countries. She was an artist and loved doing crafts; she always looked forward to participating at the Senior Center Christmas Bazaar.

She golfed three times a week, was a fabulous cook, loved gardening, reading, playing cards, fishing, snow and water skiing and bragging about how she lettered in high school basketball. She was never afraid to spread her wings.

Ora was a 33-year breast cancer survivor. Her love and faith in Jesus was so important…her last words were “I want to be with my Lord.” Her favorite Bible verse was “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Above all, Ora loved her family and grandchildren. She leaves us to cherish every moment we spent together. She is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, Cy Peterson, daughter Janelle Liem, son-in-law Jerry Liem, son Dale Peterson, granddaughter Michelle Kalustian, Michelle’s husband Jacob Kalustian, great-grandchildren Logan, Liam, twins Evie and Ora (her namesake who is also in the accompanying picture with her, “both Oras are twins”), granddaughter Danielle Peterson and great-grandson William.

Any donations, in lieu of flowers, can be donated in Ora’s honor to the Canyon Lake Library, 31516 Railroad Canyon Road, Canyon Lake, CA 92587

With regrets, because of the COVID-19, memorial services have been postponed.
