9ers install board members after tourney

The Canyon Lake 9er’s Golf Club, after a nine-hole holiday golf tournament, sat in their spread-out golf carts and held a luncheon full of contests, awards and its annual installation.

The club hosted a Holiday Tournament for its members who participated in a scramble/step aside game.

In addition to the game, members gathered on the driving range in their golf carts, socially distanced, with boxed lunches provided by the Canyon Lake Country Club Restaurant. At the luncheon, its 2021 board members were installed. The board consists of Kathy Homewood – President, Kathy Voss – Recording Secretary, Denise Viotti – Tournament Chair and 1st Vice President, Claudia Pinto and Shelley Stanovich – Co-Handicap Chairs and 2nd Vice Presidents,  Mavis Schutz – Publicity, Joanna Uhler – Membership and Elaine Grady – Treasurer.

In addition to the tournament and installation, an Ugly (or Cute) Sweater Contest was held. The winners, left, were, from left, Sandy Dawson (third), Sue Muscarella (second) and Kathy Ruselle (first). Outgoing president and winners of the various annual award categories are pictured below.

A special presentation went to outgoing President Sheryl Fine.

“Many thanks to her years of service to our club,” Mavis said. “We hope she enjoys the personalized rain jacket she will use as she golfs in Tennessee!”

Yearly awards were also given out at the luncheon. The 2020 Low Net golfer went to Linda Kielty; 2020 Low Gross winner was Kathy Voss and Most Improved Player was awarded to Elaine Grady. Most Birds went to Kathy Voss and the Most Chip Ins Award was won by Anna Peters.

Adding fun to the day was the club’s Ugly (or Cute) Sweater Contest. Winners were first place, Kathy Russelle, second place, Sue Muscarella and third place, Sandy Dawson.

The 9ers Golf Club meets on Thursdays for nine holes of golf. Women at any level of golf are invited to join. The 9er’s golfers also work very hard all year on their scholarship philanthropy.
