Parade of Lights on lake tomorrow

After weeks of preparation and anticipation, festively-lighted boats will take to the lake in the 38th Annual Canyon Lake Parade of Lights holiday boat parade tomorrow (Saturday) night. Boats from Canyon Lake clubs, neighborhoods and individuals/families will show off their holiday spirit with festive lights and colorful displays.

The parade is being organized and sponsored by the Canyon Lake Yacht Club. The club’s iconic Green Dragon boat will lead the others in a leisurely trip down the East Bay, through the tunnel and around the Main Lake. The parade lineup starts at 4:30 p.m. at the East Port Park launch ramp. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Due to restrictions on public gatherings this year, awards will not be given to winning boats after the event, but will be announced on social media. The physical awards will be presented in the days after the parade.

The Yacht Club is also producing a Facebook Live “broadcast” this year to provide a safe viewing experience for those who wish to view from home. Information on the Live event is available at the Yacht Club website (www.CanyonLakeYachtClub.com) or its Facebook Group Page.

The Green Dragon tracker will once again be online for the parade, with details provided on the Yacht Club’s social media sites – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram – and the Yacht Club website.

Boats can still enter Parade of Lights. All entries must be received by tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. Boats who wish to participate can find the entry form on the Canyon Lake Yacht Club website. Saturday morning boats can contact the club at info@CanyonLakeYachtClub.com for details on how to get signed up in time for the parade.
