Breakfast With Santa canceled after new COVID-19 shutdown

Despite the Canyon Lake Ski Club’s best efforts to alter its annual Breakfast With Santa event to make it COVID-19 friendly, the new state-mandated stay-at-home orders have caused the Canyon Lake POA to cancel it. There will be no skiing Santa tomorrow as planned.

The Canyon Lake Ski Club and the Canyon Lake POA were sponsoring the Breakfast With Santa and had made significant alterations to the typical annual event. Instead of a sit-down pancake breakfast held at the North Ski Park, the organizers moved the event to Holiday Harbor to where participants could drive cars and golf carts. Churros were going to be handed to the children as they waited in their vehicles.

Breakfast With Santa was to begin with Santa entering the lake early tomorrow morning and then skiing and performing tricks in hopes those lakeside would be ready to take photos of the unique holiday event.

After skiing a loop around the Main Lake from the North Causeway, Santa was going to drop in at Holiday Harbor.

Once at Holiday Harbor, Santa and his helpers were going to greet families in cars or golf carts and hand out the churros to the children. Socially-distant photo-op opportunities with Santa were going to be available as he greeted every child.

The Ski Club’s Debbie Sacks said the event will not be rescheduled this holiday season.
