Due to the poor behavior of a few individuals who have been damaging the golf course greens by driving on them (specifically on Holes 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9), the Canyon Lake POA is locking the tunnel gates under Railroad Canyon Road during the nighttime hours.

The POA is asking that if anyone has witnessed individuals doing this damage, to please report them to the Community Patrol.

“This is very costly damage to property that all of the members own and maintain,” the association said. “Further, we will be eliminating access from this side of the community to prevent additional damage.”

School reopening waivers suspended

The Lake Elsinore Unified School District, of which schools Canyon Lake students attend are a part, has its eyes set on reopening in-person attendance for the first of the year. However, its plans, still not officially changed, have hit a snag with the state suspending the School Waiver Process.

Riverside University Health System (RUHS) informed school partners that application for new school waivers are officially suspended as of Nov. 13. Officials stated that until the county’s adjusted case rate is consistently below the maximum level of 14, waivers cannot be submitted for state concurrence.

Case prevalence data and positivity rates continue to trend upward. Schools with existing waivers that have not yet opened will still be allowed to open under the waiver terms.

Riverside County remains in the state’s most restrictive purple risk tier for COVID-19. To avoid the risk of coronavirus transmission in the workplace, LEUSD recently implemented a limit on workplace occupancy effective Nov. 9 through Nov. 30. As a result, the previously announced plan to start a small group cohort program for special education services in early November has been postponed.

District officials are reassessing conditions regularly, so they can provide an update on or by Nov. 30.

POA employee tests positive for COVID-19

The Canyon Lake POA received notification last week that one of its employees had tested positive for COVID-19.

“We want to use the utmost caution in this situation, as well as keep our staff healthy and minimize risk,” the association said. “The staff that were potentially exposed to this employee have been informed. The contact tracing of the exposure has been done.”

The Canyon Lake POA offices have been sanitized per the Cal-OSHA guidelines and are sanitized daily, as part of the POA’s normal protocols. Since the exposure came from outside of the Canyon Lake POA offices, the offices remained open, but with modified hours.

The Canyon Lake POA office is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday and will resume normal business hours on Monday.
