Annual reseeding closes golf course, country club

The Canyon Lake Golf & Country Club, its restaurant and golf course will be closed for most of the month of October, beginning Monday as the golf course performs its annual overseeding of its grass.

The golf course will reopen on Nov. 2. The golf shop will reopen on Oct. 26.

During the closures, facility maintenance and staff training will also be conducted.

Overseeding is a necessary process that helps keep the fairways green year-round. Overseeding is the process of planting new grass seed directly over existing turf. In the fall and winter months, the golf course is overseeded with perennial ryegrass, which is more favorable to the cooler weather that occurs during these months. In the warmer months, the golf course has Bermuda grass, which tolerates the heat better.

Additionally, Gault Field will be overseeded early this year. The fields will be closed Oct. 26 through Dec. 13 while the grass is overseeded with the perennial ryegrass. The baseball fields will reopen on Dec. 14.
