Woman’s Club installation

The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club initiates its new year on Wednesday with its annual installation event. Those attending are being asked to bring their own chair and beverage of choice for the 10:00 a.m. installation. All new and retiring members are welcome, as well as past presidents, who are being given a special invitation to attend. Those attending are encouraged to wear red for the event.

Free meals continue to be served

The Lighthouse is continuing to meet the needs of Canyon Lake residents and the surrounding neighbors during this time of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, according to Executive Director Lisa Amos.

Healthy meals are made available free of charge each Monday and Wednesday at the Canyon Lake Golf and Country Club parking lot. Meals are served Grab ‘N Go style from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Meals will continue to be available through June 29.

The Lighthouse is a non-profit charity that has been providing hundreds of meals to those who simply drive up at the parking lot and have volunteers hand them the packaged meals.

Pickleball Junior Clinic is back

The Canyon Lake Pickleball Club is hosting its 3rd Annual Junior Clinic for all children ages 9 thru 17. The three-night event will take place between June 22 and 24. The clinic will begin each night at 7:00 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.

Lessons will be the first two nights and game play will take place on the third night.

The clinic will include free raffle drawings for prizes and lots of fun learning to play this growing family sport, the club’s Steve Libring said. The entry fee is $5.00 total and includes all three nights of instruction and entry into the raffle drawings. No reservations are necessary, but parents must sign up their children the first evening of the clinic beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Paddles will be provided by the Pickleball Club. Children need only wear their tennis shoes and be ready to play. Adults should bring a chair to use during the clinic, as social distancing will be practiced by all in attendance.

“Come enjoy the beautiful evenings along the water’s edge at Eastport Park and learn what pickleball is all about,” Steve said.
