Children 18 and younger and senior citizens are invited to the Canyon Lake Country Club parking lot on Monday and Wednesday for free Grab-N-Go meals. The free meals are being distributed by The Lighthouse, a non-profit children’s charity based in Canyon Lake.

Lisa Amos, a Canyon Lake resident, is the Executive Director of The Lighthouse, a non-profit organization that partners with and supports like-minded organizations that benefit low income, foster and medically fragile children.

Lisa said her organization currently sponsors 42 organizations like the Boys and Girls clubs, Pasadena Police Activities League and the LA Sheriff’s Youth League by providing free meals to their after-school programs.

“Needless to say, in light of all that has happened in our nation over the past few months, we’ve expanded our meals service to include any family that has been affected by COVID-19,” she said. “We’ve noticed that our children and seniors have been particularly hit very hard.”

As a result of this COVID-19 pandemic and the California Safer at Home Initiative, The Lighthouse, in conjunction with the City of Canyon Lake, will be offering the free Grab-N-Go Meals for children (ages 0-18) and the local senior population.

The meals will be distributed on Mondays and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. (or until the meals run out). The meals will be served on a first come, first served basis and must be taken to go. No on-site congregating will be allowed, Lisa said.

The meals will continue to be served on these two days of the week through June 29. Safe social distancing will be implemented and required for drive-thru and walk-up meal distribution.
