Play a round ‘fore’ the animals at AFV’s 11th annual golf tourney

Animal Friends of the Valleys is hosting an April charity golf tournament at the Canyon Lake Golf and Country Club to support life-saving programs for the area’s pets

Animal Friends of the Valleys’ 11th Annual Fore the Animals Golf Tournament will take place on April 24 and participants are being encouraged to sign up now for tickets or sponsorships. To play in the tournament, the cost is $125 per player or $400 per foursome.

The charity fundraiser for the animal shelter that serves six cities, including Canyon Lake, promises an afternoon full of “fun-raising” activities like contests for the longest drive, a hole-in-one, closest to the pin, and putting, live and silent auctions and an awards banquet.

Funds raised at this event will benefit the AFV Emergency Medical Fund, which pays for veterinary services for pets in the shelter’s care that need medical attention.

“Being an open admission shelter, we won’t say no to any animal in need that comes through our doors,” Katie Menges, Event and Media Manager for the shelter., said. “When we see pets that have been hit by cars, have treatable infections, or need emergency medical care, we know that we have to step up to help the pets that need us most. This medical fund helps us cover the costs that will prevent suffering for these pets before they are able to find their forever loving homes.”

Animal Friends of the Valleys is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to promoting humane care of animals through education and a humane, pro-active animal services program, and is committed to preventing the suffering of animals and to ending pet overpopulation in the communities it serves.

For tickets or information about sponsorships, those interested can visit animalfriendsofthevalleys.com/FORE2020. The tournament is not just looking for golfers, but those who can donate items for goody bags, live and silent auctions and, of course, cash. Vendors are also being solicited to participate. Information is available on the website about each of these donations.
