History was made as The Canyon Lake Tennis Club held its inaugural United States Tennis Association Sanctioned Adult N.T.R.P. and Open Tennis Classic at its courts in Canyon Lake recently. The Canyon Lake Tennis Classic tournament had over 150 names on the match roster and had players from all over the world, from as nearby as Las Vegas to as far away as Germany.

With rain hindering play, the tournament was extended and the competition came to a close on Feb, 17. Directing the tournament was Canyon Lake tennis pro Brien Sullivan.

“Canyon Lake Tennis Club’s mission is to grow the game of tennis in Canyon Lake by putting on outside events showcasing our community and club,” the Tennis Club’s Jennifer Denson said. “This competition will put Canyon Lake on the map in the world of tennis,”

“Our club understands the passion, dedication and commitment our sport requires to offer a world class tennis program for both adults and juniors alike,” Brien said. “That is why Canyon Lake is determined to provide more tennis opportunities for our entire community so that any player, of any age or level, can enjoy tennis.”

“Our inaugural tournament showcased an exciting combination of national and international professional players competing in our Open divisions for prize money,” Brien said. “Our Canyon Lake adults were able to battle it out with N.T.R.P. rating and rankings on the line. Competitors and fans had an exciting two weekends of incredible tennis at Canyon Lake!”
