JWC hosts successful blood drive

The Junior Women’s Club of Canyon Lake and the American Red Cross hosted a five-hour blood drive on Sunday. Organizers say it was a great success and are grateful to everyone who donated.

The American Red Cross in Southern California has issued an emergency need alert for blood and platelet donations. The Red Cross strives to keep a five-day supply available at all times to meet the needs of patients around the globe.

Every two seconds in the United States, blood and platelets are needed to save lives. The American Red Cross provides shelter, food and emotional support for victims of disasters. They also provide 40 percent of the nation’s blood.

Even though the blood drive is completed, donors are still needed. Donors can schedule an appointment by using the free blood donor app, visiting Redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
