Canyon Lake is the home base for the ShowCal Skiers, California’s first and only amateur water ski show team. Not only do Canyon Lakers get to see this team in action, but they’re also invited to be a part of the team.

Show skiing has been called the most entertaining discipline in the sport of water skiing. It is fast-moving, exciting, graceful and fun to watch. Virtually all aspects of the sport, including barefooting, jumping, slalom, tricks and kneeboarding, are choreographed into one grand performance.

Being a part of ShowCal Skiers is a great activity that the whole family can enjoy together. All ages are welcome to join in on the fun. The club even has space for non-skiers since support members are also needed.

Skills training is taught for all aspects of the ski show, including audio/visual, announcing/hosting, drivers/power team, safety coordinators and equipment.

Ski disciplines include two skis, slalom, barefoot, trick, shoe ski, swivel, ballet, jump, doubles, trios, adagio, human pyramids, ATB, kneeboard, disc, wakeboard, wakeskate, foil, free-style and hot dogging. Members incorporate all types of performance artistry in their water-ski shows.

Practices are held every other Sunday during the months of April, May, June, August and September from 2 to 6 p.m. at the jump lagoon on the north side of the lake. The team performs annually during the Canyon Lake Car Show in October and occasionally during Taco Tuesdays in the summer.
