Tennis Club hosts New Member Tournament

The Tennis Club kicked off its 2020 season and welcomed its new and returning members during its New Member Tournament on Jan. 11.

With 124 points, Team A came in first place. Team A players are Mary Ann Neder, Tom Bol, Dawn Wessel, Vern Clayton, Jennifer Denson and Kathy Valdez. Dawn Wessel and Dan Roque earned the highest overall scores.

The tournament was organized by Val Gambina, Kathy Valdez, Sheila Walkington, Devlin Fillmore and Tennis Pro Brien Sullivan.

The club’s next event will be held on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9 when it hosts the inaugural Canyon Lake NTRP and Open Tennis Classic. It will be the club’s first-ever USTA/SCTA sanctioned event.

The Tennis Club holds social play on Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m. Social play is a free activity open to all levels of players and is a great way to meet other players without committing to a schedule.
