Canyon Lakers celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Joy and Chuck Call will celebrate their 60th anniversary on Dec. 26. The couple married in Joy’s hometown of McLeansboro, Illinois. They returned to Columbus, Ohio, where Chuck finished two more years of studying engineering at Ohio State University while Joy worked as a secretary in the university’s administration offices.

After graduation, Joy and Chuck moved to California where Chuck began his career as an aerospace engineer with North American Aviation in Anaheim and Joy worked as an executive secretary. In 2000, they moved to Canyon Lake where they are active in the community as members of the Roadrunners Club. Joy is a member of the Garden Club and PEO.

Joy and Chuck have one son, Alan Call of Quail Valley, and one daughter, Cindy O’Neal of Bend, Oregon. They have four grandchildren, Brodie and Taylor Call and Chip and Nathan O’Neal. Brodie and Taylor attend the University of California, Riverside. Chip attends medical school in Virginia and Nathan is employed as a chemist for the EPA in Maryland.

Joy and Chuck plan to spend their anniversary attending the wedding of their grandson.
