Don’t miss annual Golf Cart Parade this Sunday

One of Canyon Lake’s most anticipated holiday events will take place this Sunday, Dec. 8, when more than 100 decorated golf carts will cruise down Canyon Lake Drive for the 9th annual Golf Cart Parade and Toy Drive. Spectators are invited to line the parade route and cheer on the festive carts as they pass by.

Residents who would like to participate are asked to decorate their golf carts with lights and meet between 4 and 4:30 p.m. on Blue Bird Drive. The entry fee is one unwrapped toy for the Toy Drive.

Hosted by the Street Carts of Canyon Lake, the parade will start at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Canyon Lake Drive and Blue Bird Drive. From there, carts will travel down Canyon Lake Drive to East Port Park where participants will be greeted by Christmas music played by a 60-piece marching band from Elsinore High School.

The end of the parade will also feature a taco booth, a kettle corn booth and a presentation of trophies for the best-decorated golf carts.

All parade participants must sign a waiver. Waivers are available at the POA office and will be available at the line-up location on the day of the parade. This year, all participants must have a fire extinguisher on their golf cart. Throwing candy and passing other golf carts during the parade is not permitted.

There will be no street parking on the east side of Canyon Lake Drive from Blue Bird Drive to East Port Park from 4 to 7 p.m. on the evening of the parade.

The annual Golf Cart Parade and Toy Drive started in 2011 with approximately 20 golf carts. Since then, the event has grown to more than 100 golf carts participating in the annual parade.

Street Carts of Canyon Lake is a golf cart club that holds community events to raise funds for its charitable work.
