FMC adds trunk-or-treating to Halloween Carnival

The 6th annual Halloween Carnival and Costume Contest will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Holiday Harbor Park.

Hosted by the Canyon Lake Family Matters Club, the carnival features a costume contest and costume parade, carnival game booths, a costume shop, vendors, a craft station, face painting and a dance party. Wristbands for kids cost $5 and include unlimited games.

New this year is trunk-or-treating in the parking lot. The club invites families and businesses to decorate a vehicle or golf cart and pass out candy.

A grand prize of two Disneyland tickets will be awarded to the best trunk-or-treat vehicle/golf cart. Entry forms and decorating ideas can be found on the club’s website.

The costume parade starts at 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes in various age groups.

The club will have a costume shop featuring infant to adult size costumes for $5.

Proceeds from the sale go back to the club to support its philanthropic projects.

Food, snacks and beverages will be sold at the snack bar.

Local vendors are invited to sell their items and holiday crafts. A cash prize will be awarded to the best-costumed booth. The cost is $40 per booth. Applications can be found on the club’s website.

The club is seeking sponsors and volunteers to work the event. Teens can earn volunteer hours. For more information, visit the club’s website at familymattersclub.org.
