Letter: Car Show

Editor, The Friday Flyer

On behalf of the 2019 Canyon Lake Car Show Committee, I want to thank everyone who participated in our 14th annual Classic Car Show last weekend.  This includes too many to list by name, but first and foremost they are the 2019 Car Show Committee who has been working on this event since June, their sub-committees made up of club volunteers, spouses and friends, the City of Canyon Lake, the POA and specifically Activities, the lodge and Operations, without which we couldn’t pull it off each year.

The POA Activities staff attended all of our planning meetings after hours and without them, the event wouldn’t have been the success it was. The Operations staff was diligent in assisting with set-up and take-down at the end of the day and are also much appreciated.

There were nearly 300 cars on display from as far away as Nevada and Arizona, a complimentary performance by ShowCal Skiers, 28 vendor booths and an additional 16 sponsors that supported this event.  The 50/50 winner walked away with $740. There was an assortment of foods, from street tacos, bacon-wrapped hot dogs and Tiki Treats, as well as specialty drinks and an expanded Car Show menu at the lodge.

Twenty-two trophies were given to participants selected by their peers, with five more selected by industry professionals in paint, interiors and motors, as well as city and POA dignitaries.

Our thanks also go to The Friday Flyer and staff for their great support, photos, articles and overall promotion of this fun community event, and the community of Canyon Lake for coming out and enthusiastically supporting us.

We’re already working on making next year’s show even bigger and better.  Mark your calendars for the 2020 Canyon Lake Classic Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 3.
