Golf course, country club to close for 21 days

The country club and golf course will be closed Oct. 7 through Oct. 27 for annual overseeding and parking lot renovation. The facility is scheduled to reopen on Oct. 28.

For a few weeks each fall, the golf course closes for overseeding. The process of overseeding is planting new grass seed directly over existing turf.

In the warmer months, the course has Bermuda grass which tolerates the heat well. In the fall and winter months, the course is overseeded with perennial ryegrass which is more favorable to cooler weather.

To protect the seedlings and allow the new grass to become established, golf cart drivers are asked to stay on the path for approximately three weeks after the golf course reopens.

The POA plans to start the first phase of the parking lot renovations while the golf course is closed for overseeding.

The POA Board of Directors approved funding in an amount not to exceed $3,425,000 toward the renovations and improvements to 15 community parking lots and Canyon Lake Drive North from Vacation Drive to Goetz Road.

The parking lots include Blue Bird Hall, the country club, Diamond Point Park, East Port Park, the equestrian center driveway entrance, Gault Field, Holiday Harbor Park, Indian Beach, lodge/tennis/Sunset Beach, Moonstone Beach, north ski east and west, the Operations yard, Sierra Park and the senior center.

Project updates will be posted on the POA website at canyonlakepoa.com/projects.
