Janet and Wayne York enjoyed a month-long road trip to a family reunion in the Wisconsin Dells, a city in southern Wisconsin that lies on the Wisconsin River in a region of glacier-carved sandstone formations.

Following the reunion, the couple traveled to Minnesota, Iowa and Kansas. Their stay in Iowa included a visit with Canyon Lakers Pat and Dave Herman at their summer home.

From Kansas, the couple traveled south to Texas to follow Route 66 westward to home. At the Amarillo Welcome Center in Texas, Janet and Wayne met the assistant chief of police, a member of the Rotary Club.

“Each year, the Rotary Club selects six couples traveling through to promote the Rotary and the history of the Texas panhandle,” said Wayne. “He invited us to stay in Amarillo for the night and paid for our hotel, took us out to dinner and then to a great stage show at an amphitheater in Palo Duro Canyon State Park, the second largest canyon in the U.S. The play was a musical romance history of Texas panhandle. Great show with a cast of over 50, horses and wagons. It was complete with a laser light show and fireworks.”
