Canyon Lakers win trophies at local Car Show

Several Canyon Lakers walked away with trophies on Saturday at Lamb’s Fellowship 5th annual Car and Motorcycle Show. Sherman Terry’s 1935 Ford Pickup, Dennis McCoy’s 1940 Ford Woody, Sam Theodora’s 1957 Thunderbird and Bill Monteleone’s 1944 Coupe won Top 20 awards. Joe Landin’s 1952 Jaguar won the Best of Show Street Rod award and Russ Smith’s 1970 VW Karmann-Ghia won the Best of Show Volkswagen award.

This year’s show was directed by Canyon Laker Paul Kakis and featured hundreds of cars and motorcycles, live music featuring the surf sounds of the Fabulous Nomads, food trucks, vendors, an opportunity drawing and a silent auction.

The 1958 Chevy Impala owned by Walt Lewis won the top Best of Show award. Britt Miller of Murrieta won the 2006 Chevy Suburban donated by EZ Car Pros and refurbished by several local automotive businesses. Craig Cullen of Corona won $330 in the 50/50 drawing.

The silent auction featured an $800 Traeger grill, collectible memorabilia from the television show Bitchin’ Rides and several Lamb’s Fellowship logo jackets, to name a few. Automotive products and a flat screen television were among this year’s raffle prizes. The proceeds from this event will go toward local ministry programs for children.
