Canyon Lake teen accepted to 12 colleges

After months of waiting and 12 college acceptance letters, Canyon Lake teen Ryan Hosking has chosen to attend Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering at San Jose State University.

Ryan’s career goal is to be a commercial airline pilot. It was a tough decision for Ryan to choose between Cal State Maritime’s Marine Transportation Program and SJSU. “Flying won,” said Ryan’s dad Michael.

Earlier this year, Ryan was presented with the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce’s Youth of the Year award. Ryan is an Eagle Scout and has earned all 137 merit badges, an accomplishment that less than 400 Scouts have achieved since the beginning of the Scouts in 1910.

Ryan was recently hired as a director at Camp Emerald Bay, a Boys Scouts of America summer camp and year-round facility on Catalina Island.

The teen said he is looking forward to attending SJSU in August.
