FMC community swap meet set for Saturday

The community is invited to sell, shop, barter and search for treasures at the Family Matters Club community swap meet tomorrow, May 4, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Holiday Harbor Park.

Individuals who wish to sell goods can reserve a parking space for $15. Vendors can reserve a space on the grass area for $40. Sign up forms are available at the POA office and at familymattersclub.org.

The club will provide the advertising and signs; sellers must bring their own chairs, tables, canopy, etc. Set up time is between the hours of 6 and 8 a.m. All cars must be off the lot by 8 a.m. Only golf cart, bike and foot traffic will be allowed on the lot during the sale time. Clean up is between 1 and 2 p.m.

“This is a great opportunity for kids to do some spring cleaning and clear out all their old toys, school clothes and things they have outgrown. It teaches them that earning money is hard work but rewarding,” said Shawna Bowen of the Family Matters Club. “It gives them the opportunity to interact with buyers and learn the trade of haggling and negotiating. It offers the opportunity to work with money and change. Help your kids with a fun way to learn entrepreneurship lessons, neighborhood bonding and a means to purge and re-organize. If they aren’t into selling they can come shop and still learn some fun lessons from thrifting, bargain hunting and negotiating with the sellers. We hope to see all the families out there having a great time.”

The Family Matters Club will be selling food, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages at the snack bar during the event. For more information, call 714-394-4885 or email info@familymattersclub.org.
