Hub Watson was recently honored by the Tuesday Work Group (TWG) and other good friends for his 95th birthday. Born in 1924 in Brewton, Alabama, Hub is the second of eight siblings.

Hub married his wife Eulene in 1947. They were married for 59. Eulene passed away in 2006. The couple visited friends in Artesia in 1952 and decided California would be their future. They resided in Lakewood then Buena Park. In 1988, colleagues Paul Miller and Glen Hume encouraged the couple to settle in Canyon Lake.

Hub has been a staunch supporter of the Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club since 1989 and plays regularly on Wednesdays with the Over the Hill Gang. He has been a member of the TWG since July 1989 and the CLAMS since 1990.

In 2013, Hub was presented with the TWG Golden Shovel Award, voted by his peers for outstanding service to the Canyon Lake community through his contributions within TWG.

Hub firmly believes in the beauty of the Canyon Lake community by the “closely-knitted relationships” which are born and sustained through the spirit of unity for all. Hub said this spirit was so personally valuable to him when his wife was ill for several years, up to and after her passing, and without which his own survival would have been much more difficult.

Hub said his greatest accomplishment to date is “getting old.”
