Martels celebrate 40th anniversary with cruise

Leigh and Ron Martel, Reel People movie columnists for The Friday Flyer, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a 14-day cruise to Australia and New Zealand. The highlights of their trip included attending a Wynton Marsalis concert in the Sydney Opera House, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, feeding marsupials in Tasmania, cruising through Fiordland National Park in New Zealand and touring the Hobbiton movie set where “The Hobbit” and “Lord of the Rings” were filmed.

Mostly, the Martel’s just enjoyed a leisurely time being pampered on the cruise ship and wandering through the New Zealand port towns.

Leigh and Ron have vacationed in more than 20 countries on six of the seven continents, but say they have no plans to visit Antarctica any time soon, if ever.
