Canyon Lake Little League Opening Day is Mar. 9

Batter up! Canyon Lake Little League Opening Day is Saturday, Mar. 9. The snack bar will be serving a pancake breakfast and selling apparel (t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats) from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Storm mascot Thunder will be taking photos with players on the field at 8:30 a.m.

Opening Day ceremonies start at 9:30 a.m. Canyon Lake Councilwoman Kasey Castillo will be throwing out the first pitch. The National Anthem will be sung by Alexis Mostellar.

There will be vendors selling merchandise, a raffle and face painting. Vendors include My Buddies Pizza, IVibe Coffee, Kona Ice and Lux Lids, to name a few.

The league is seeking volunteers to work the snack bar on Opening Day. Those interested should contact Jessica Cleveland at jjclevelands@gmail.com.

There are 18 teams this season. The 2019 board members are Marcos Frias, president; Jason Cleveland, vice president; Melissa Gavin, secretary; and Jennifer Ryan, treasurer.

Opening Day schedule:

• 8 to 9:30 a.m.: Breakfast and vendors
• 8:30 a.m.: Photos on the field with Thunder
• 9:30 a.m.: Players and coaches report to field two
• 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.: Opening ceremonies
• 11 a.m.: First games start

In preparation for Opening Day, the league is hosting a Clean Up Day on Mar. 2 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
